I bought the O11 distroplate from microcenter and the pump only has a 4 pin pwm connector.  How would I power this pump to test without plugging it into my motherboard?

Dear Sabashio,

You can connect the pump and the PSU with our pump switch 24-pin bypass connector. (BPTA-PSC-SOC)

To power the pump on your O11 distro plate without using your motherboard, you can connect the 4-pin PWM connector to a dedicated fan or pump header on a fan controller or use a 12V DC power supply with a 4-pin PWM adapter. Another simple option is to use a powered fan hub that connects directly to your power supply through a SATA or Molex connector. Just make sure the hub supports PWM and 12V output, so the pump runs safely and at full power for testing.

You can definitely power and test the pump without plugging it into your motherboard. Since it uses a 4-pin PWM connector, the easiest way is to use a dedicated fan controller or a Molex to 4-pin PWM adapter connected to your PSU. Just make sure the adapter or controller can handle the power draw of your pump — some distroplate pumps can pull a bit more than standard fans.

When I was setting up my custom rigs for Brat Generator "https://bratgenerator.id/" and SnapChat Planet "https://planetsofsnpachat.com/" , I used an external fan hub with SATA power to safely test pump and fan setups before installing them fully. Keeps things flexible and protects your board too!
